Rift Runner is a single-player game. It has an optional scoreboard. Nothing is sent from your phone unless you use the scoreboard.
What is sent when you use the scoreboard
When you set a new best score, the game asks whether to save it to the scoreboard. If you tap SAVE or X (save as anonymous), the game sends to our server: the score, the time, the round and level, the recorded moves of that round and of the rounds before it in the same run (the directions you swiped and when, so the score can be checked by replaying it), the game version, and, if you typed one, the nickname you chose. The first time you save, report a nickname, or make or enter a backup code, our server gives your phone a random ID. If you report a nickname, we store that report with your random ID. Looking at the scoreboard does not create an ID; once your phone has one, it is sent when you look at a board, so the board can show your own score and rank.
We do not collect your real name, e-mail, phone number, contacts, location, photos, advertising ID, or anything about your purchase. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Why we use it
To provide the scoreboard you asked for (saving, checking and ranking your scores) and, as our legitimate interest, to stop cheating and abuse.
Who sees what
Other players see your nickname (or ANONYMOUS), your score, percent, time and rank on the scoreboard. Nobody sees your random ID.
Where it is kept and for how long
On servers of Cloudflare, Inc. (database in the European Union). To check a score, its recorded moves, without your nickname, ID or IP address, are replayed on computers of GitHub, Inc. (USA) and deleted there within a day. These are our only two service providers. Your scores are kept until you delete them, or until 365 days after you last used the scoreboard. A nickname that is not used for 180 days is freed for others; your scores then show as ANONYMOUS. Saved moves of a Daily are deleted 30 days after the Daily. Cloudflare sees your IP address to deliver the traffic; we keep only a scrambled form of it, for 25 hours, to stop abuse. If you report a nickname, a scrambled form of part of your IP address is kept with the report for at most 30 days. Weekly backups are kept for 8 weeks and then overwritten.
Your choices and rights
Settings > SCOREBOARD: choose DON'T SAVE, change or remove your nickname, or DELETE MY SCORES (deletes your nickname and every score from our server). Or write to [email protected] and quote the Player ID shown in Settings > SCOREBOARD; we answer within 30 days. You may ask for a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion, and you may complain to your data protection authority.
Nicknames
Do not use your real name. Nicknames are filtered, and by saving one you agree to the nickname rules. Any player can report a nickname. A nickname reported by several players is hidden automatically, and we can remove any nickname that breaks the rules. A hidden or removed nickname cannot be used again. If a child under 13 used the scoreboard, write to us and we delete the data.
